Complete user manual and documentation to master Disguise Chat.

Quick Start Guide

Welcome to Disguise Chat. This guide will walk you through the basics of setting up and using the application securely.

1 First Launch & Interface

When you open the app, you will see a fully functional calculator. This is not a fake screen; it operates normally.

To access the messenger: Type the default Secret PIN `1234=` into the calculator.

2 Anonymous Registration

After entering the PIN, you will reach the login screen. Tap "Create Account".

  • You do NOT need a phone number or email address.
  • Choose a unique Username and a strong Password.
  • Crucial: Because we collect no personal data, there is no password recovery. If you lose your password, you lose your account.
  • Upon registration, you will be assigned a unique User ID. This ID is how others will add you.

3 Sending Messages

To message someone, you must know their exact User ID.

  1. Tap the "New Chat" icon.
  2. Enter the recipient's User ID.
  3. Start typing your message. All messages are immediately end-to-end encrypted.

Advanced Features

Auto Lock

Disguise Chat utilizes a "Zero-Delay Auto Lock". If you are in the messenger and you minimize the app, switch to another app, or if your phone screen locks, the app instantly reverts to the calculator interface.

When you switch back to Disguise Chat, you will be looking at the calculator and must re-enter your Secret PIN to continue chatting.

The Panic PIN

The Panic PIN is a secondary code used for emergency situations where you are forced to open the app.

Default Panic PIN: 4321=

Entering this code into the calculator immediately logs you out, deletes local message caches, and optionally simulates a crash. You can configure the specific behavior in Settings > Security.

Self-Destructing Messages

You can set timers on your chats. Once read by the recipient, the message will permanently delete itself from both devices and our servers after the specified duration (e.g., 30 seconds, 5 minutes, 1 hour).

Security Model

End-to-End Encryption (E2EE)

We use industry-standard encryption protocols. Keys are generated on your device and are never sent to our servers. Our servers only route encrypted blobs of data.

Data Minimization & Storage

Disguise Chat operates on a principle of absolute data minimization:

  • We do not log IP addresses.
  • We do not request device identifiers (IMEI, advertising IDs).
  • Messages are stored on our servers only until they are delivered to the recipient, after which they are purged.
  • If a message is undelivered for 14 days, it is automatically deleted.
